UPDATE 16 OCTOBER 2020: We won!
Following thousands of emails from the community, the applicant withdrew.
Amey’s Puppies is a puppy farm that has operated in Victoria since 2010. Under threat of Victoria’s new legislation, they applied for and were granted a permit to keep 80 dogs and puppies on a property in Moama, New South Wales.
Now they are attempting to keep BOTH businesses open by applying for a permit to keep 150 dogs and puppies in Victoria.
This means they would have 230 dogs and puppies between the two properties - an enormous welfare issue.
It is just a 43 minute drive from the Victorian property to the New South Wales property, and we have serious concerns that if this application is approved, they may send dogs that reach their litter limit in Victoria over the border to New South Wales, where it is legal to breed until physically no longer able.
This puppy farm has NOT been given an exemption to Victoria’s new legislation by the Agriculture Minister, Jaclyn Symes.
They should be cutting down their breeding dog numbers to 10 females in order to abide with the new rules - not attempting to expand.Send an email to Campaspe Shire Council to reject this application. Objections close on 19 October 2020!
